Altermed (previously Dr. Gafoor's Ayurvedic Alternative Medical Center) is a leading center for Alternative Medicine ie; Ayurveda and Homeopathy.

Established in 1965 in Kottakkal, Kerala, Dr. P. Alikutty’s Ayurveda & Modern Hospital - Kottakkal, has evolved into a cornerstone of traditional ayurveda over six decades.

Founded by Dr. P. Alikutty and T. Khyrunisa, the institution began as a modest clinic and transformed into a prominent 50-room NABH accredited Ayurveda Hospital, catering to individuals from India and the Middle East.

The hospital's legacy extends beyond treatments, encompassing the preparation of classical and proprietary ayurvedic medicines.

Dr. P. Alikutty’s journey showcases perseverance, transitioning from a day care clinic to an ISO 9001:2015 certified ayurveda hospital with Diamond Category recognition from the Kerala Govt. Tourism Dept.

Expanding its footprint, the institution established branches in Ajman (UAE), Hyderabad and Pune during this period. Additionally, Dr. P. Alikutty’s Ayurveda Pharmaceuticals - Kottakkal, associated with the hospital, holds Zed certification, GMP accreditation and is a licensed FSSAI Manufacturer, reinforcing the institution's commitment to excellence.

In parallel, the establishment of Dr. P. Alikuttys Institute for Education, Training & Research (IETR) reflects their commitment to development and education through ayurveda. Dr. P. Alikuttys IETR conducts training and certificate courses, contributing to the broader mission of advancing ayurvedic knowledge and practice.

1967

Kottakkal Hospital Established

Dr. Gafoor's Ayurvedic Alternative Medical Center UAE is the extension of Dr. P.Alikutty's Kottakkal Ayurveda And Modern Hospital, Kottakkal, Kerala, established in year 1965.

1992

Dr. Gafoor Began Medical Practice

Dr.Abdul Gafoor, MD (Acu) in Ayurveda, started his Medical Practice in Kottakkal along with Dr. P.Alikutty (Father) in the year 1992.

1995

Italian Herbal Centre Founded

ITALIAN HERBAL CENTRE was established by the Ruler of Emirate of Ajman and his brother for the empowerment of herbal Medicine in United Arab Emirates.

1997

Ayurvedic Practice Started in Ajman

Dr. Abdul Gafoor P was given the responsibility of undertaking the establishment, Italian Herbal Centre.

2001

New Location & New Departments

Shifted to a new location for better facilities and introduced Homeopathy & Yoga Departments in addition to the existing Ayurveda Department.

2002

First Licensed Ayurvedic Doctor in The UAE

Dr. Gafoor became one of the first Ayurvedic Doctors to be licensed to practice independently by the Ministry of Health UAE.

2004

Center Renamed to Ayurvedic Alternative Medical Center

ITALIAN HERBAL CENTRE name was later changed to Ayurvedic Alternative Medical Center under the patronage of Dr. Abdul Gafoor P as a centre for alternative medicine.

2020

Year of Transition

Dr. Rikas Gafoor, Sajida Gafoor, Dr. Shaneefa Thesni, and Dr. Viney Philip took in-charge of the Ayurvedic Alternative Medical Center.

2024

Introducing Altermed

Dr. Gafoor's Ayurvedic Alternative Medical Centre has rebranded to Altermed, preserving the legacy of authentic healing.
